In my 20 years of IT experience, I have worked with hundreds talents as I
owned my own IT consulting firm in the past

My understanding of the relationship between the end customer, the service provider, the talents that work as employees is that:
The end customer truly enjoys working with the talented employee and appreciates the hard work and results delivered, however usually has a limited budget.
The owner of the service provider mostly is focused on making sure the relationship earns as much margin as possible, so that the owner can fund other ambitions with it.
The talented employee works hard for the end customer, but often gets orders from the owners that are not to the benefit of the end customer and usually doesn't see a big part of the margin earned ending up in his/her pay check
The result is often
A customer with a software product that could use more sprints, features, work done
Big part of the budget is often spent on matters that have nothing to do with the software product or happiness/productivity of the employees that execute the work
Employees not happy with their pay check, while they know that they could earn more if they worked directly.
